Anyone else into reading Scotland romances lately? Well, I am - big time. Here's the my entry on my new favorite author when it comes to sexy Scotlanders in kilts. Yum.

It is FINALLY starting to cool off here. We only reached 89 degrees as a high here today. And it's a lovely 3-day weekend. :)

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes.  Our son is doing great. He has to have his follow-up surgery in about a year, but everything appears to be healing nicely. Can't say how much I appreciate all the kind words and support.

I'm sorry to say that I am a long way from reading the new Diana Gabaldon book. I still have 3 more Outlander books to read, and I'm missing the next one I need. Well, I'm not "missing" it, the library has it, it's just I'm number 6 on the waiting list. Sucks because I have the library book that comes after. So-o, have to wait it out. I get so confused on the order of these books.

 Thanks to the lovely friends around here who commented and sent me PMs. Matthew is doing much better, and I really appreciate all the good wishes.

Dear kacie223 , I have not forgotten about your drabble - life has just caught up with me. It's giving me some fan fic to look forward to writing. And I need that.

Tomorrow morning, early, we're taking our middle son Matthew in for his ear surgery. Yikes! They cut through the skull behind the ear and have to take out part of the bone running behind the inner ear. So-o, we'll be glad when that's over!

If I'm not around by Friday, hope everyone has a good weekend.

 Would anyone else like a drabble? I'll do R/Hr or gen fics. I am writing freelance now as well as working on a book or two, and I need a break once in a while and love to write HP. Throw this old dog a bone.

 So it's been quite a while since I've updated here. I saw eruditefics  had done a list of her top Harry Potter moments, and I thought that was a really cool idea. Unfortunately, I couldn't decide on just five, and it's my LJ, so screw it. Seven, after all, is the magical number. So, here's mine:

Happy July 4th!!

We're doing pork ribs on the grill with spinach salad. My sister-in-law's bringing four-cheese mac n cheese and Mom's bringing key lime pies. So, we'll be eating.

Now this isn't the real thing, it's just someone speculating on possible actors to portray Jamie Fraser since Outlander has apparently been optioned for a film, but Rupert Grint was mentioned - especially with a bit of scruff. I enjoyed the mention, though after reading Outlander over the last few days, I'd hate to see Rupert put through that. Ugh, ugh, ugh... But check out the mention here.

Please do not mention anything in the other books past Outlander as I've not read them.

Here's hoping I get my Ron/Hermione Spring Images Fic Challenge done in time - but it isn't looking good. There's a lot going on with the end of the school year and other stuff and I feel very jumbled just now and far too restless to really write or try and make sense out of the deranged scribblings I have thus far. *gulp*

In other news, so very proud of our boys who are doing so well.

And there is a pigeon in my backyard just now that is as big as our cat. No joke.

I hope all mothers Out There had a happy Mother's Day. The men in my life were more than generous to me, which means I have some gift cards to go shopping with.

Our eldest was low after losing his first wrestling match today but came back fighting and won his second and thus medaled today. A good day here in PigWithHairLand.

The appraiser is coming on Tuesday. The front of our house is newly stucco'ed and painted, but we still have to do much of the back of the house. There are 10 tons of top soil and 20 tons of gravel sitting in the street in front of our house we need to spread around our front yard, and I still have one patch of weeds left right where the worst of the hornet concentration is.

And the temp here has been in the high 90s. We hit 98 yesterday.

I had  a stress dream last night. The next four days are going to suck, suck, suck, but if we live through them and get everything done... oh please, oh please, oh please.

A very Happy Birthday to my dear friend willow_wand  ! You have been nothing short of supportive to me from the very beginning and have seen me through the hard times, not to mention put up with my whining and bitching. I sure miss our times out together and hope to have more in the future when you can come back. You will be a caring, enthusiastic and hardworking teacher, and there will be many lucky kids whose lives you'll soon touch down there in El Chuco. I love you and hope you have a wonderful day and new year!

Well, I entered Checkmated's Ron/Hermione Spring Images Fic Challenge. I must be stupid because I have little time to write, but it looks like a lot of fun, and I already know what to do with my prompt, so... anyway, check it out if you haven't already.

A couple comments: Firstly, my apologies to exartemarte  and to biliussue , both of whom have left comments here on my fic journal recently. It appears my email notification isn't working, so I just noticed these comments. Sorry for the huge delay in response and thanks for the comments.

Also, thanks very much to rougered , exartemarte  and to naiad8  for their input on my writing question over on my regular LJ. I've found the comments very helpful. Odd thing: I'm finishing up John Steinbeck's The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights, and at the back is a thick Appendix of Steinbeck's letters to a friend and to his literary agent, written while he was researching for and writing this book back in 1957.

He talks of how it takes him forever to read and think, and yet how he feels like he's constantly running out of time. And yet he was having such fun writing this book. It makes me feel good, knowing how much he enjoyed writing it.

Great book, written by someone with a true love of the subject.
